Ramnavmi Celebration at India Center - By Suresh Gupta, Chair Religious Committee, ISW

ISW celebrated Shri Ramnavmi on Sunday April 25, 2007 at the India Center.

The event started with a Pooja which was performed by Mrs. Pushpa Joshi.  Later, the Sundarkand Path Recital was led by Meera Gupta which was joined by several other devotees.  It was a pleasure to see so many people involved so deeply, in the reading of Sundarkand.  Equally pleasing was the fact that the attendees represented a wide range of age groups.   We are glad that our younger generation is continuing to follow our religious traditions and a belief in God.  Sundarkand Path was followed by Bhajans by Prakash Tobarran.  On Dholak was Barin Bando and Tabla was played so perfectly by our youngest artist Master Raghav Mishra.  Prakash’s Bhajans inspired everyone to recite with him with devotion.  His bhajans were quite hypnotic. Music provided with the recital of Sundarkand by Prakash, Barin and Raghav made the reading of Ramayan very enjoyable.  Neeraj Mohanka shared with every one his research on the genealogy of Lord Ramchandra Jee and explained the significance of Ramnavmi. The celebration was ended with Aarti and Prasad which was provided by several volunteer devotees.  Our sincere thanks to these volunteers who helped us, in making the Prasad.

This year we have started making a request for RSVP for some of  ISW events.  It was very helpful to receive RSVP’s for Ramnvmi. It helped us a great deal in making arrangements and in contacting the people who had volunteered for preparing Prasad.  We wish to thank all the people who took the time to send us timely RSVP’s.

Finally, thanks to Ragini Seth for coordinating the Prasad arrangements and several other details for this event.  Thanks also to Hemant Shah, Ashish Cowlagi and all the members of their web / IT support committee who are working hard to make our communication with ISW members easier and more efficient.  Thanks also to all those volunteers who unfailingly toiled to make all the set up, tear down and clean up arrangements before and after the event.
