ISW annual picnic held on July 20th
at the Northborough Park was filled with fun, food and frolicking. We had as
many people if not more than what we had last year. Some came early, some came a
little late, but all-in-all it was a lot of fun. Weather cooperated for the most
part, with a short, but pouring burst of rain to cool down things.
This year our theme for food was Indian
street side eating style Chaat. We got samose and chhole from Spices in Westboro
to make samosa-chaat!. We made fresh Bhel on demand. Quite a few members called
ahead of time and we had no trouble getting all that we needed to feed close to
150 people, including children. We also had Vegetable Pakore, Moong salad, Dal
ke pakode, and water melon, cookies, brownies, ice-cream and a lot of other
items.
Something new this year, Shrini and family from Lexington, brought a message for
all along with sample Vade and Laddoo for us to taste which they made without
using any oil, sugar or salt.
We also played lot of games like, Basket
ball, Volley ball, Cricket, Pittu. Children’s games had a new & surprising twist
this year, where they won prizes. The kids also loved playing with water
balloons.
