Every year Saraswati Puja is performed by ISW Cultural School students. This year was no exception.  Saraswati Puja write-up by Carolyn Passey below:

On Sunday, March 11, 2007, the India Society of Worcester Language and Cultural School sponsored their annual Sarasvati Puja.  As the image of Goddess Sarasvati looked gently down on them, the students slowly passed before her and placed their school workbooks at her feet.  The program, which lasted almost three hours, was a combination of bhajans performed by both the school students as a group and also individually.  Some students offered their musical talent by playing selections on their instruments.  One student performed a beautiful dance routine.

The students were lead in a puja by Mrs. Pushpa Joshi and her helpers Sneha and Pooja Hingorany.  The announcers for the afternoon were Malavika and Nicita Mehta.  Naveena Shanmugam read her composition about the importance of Goddess Sarasvati.  Mrs. Neelima Chaturvedi, the music teacher at the school, lead the students in the bhajans she had been teaching them since October.  Parents, teachers and friends joined the students in worship and aarti.

The program ended with light prashad that was provided by the teachers and parents.  Each student also received a small statue of the goddess to bring home.
